Drunken Otters è una piccola realtà produttiva indipendente di Milano, nata intorno al progetto della serie per il web "La principessa è in un altro castello".
A capo di questa armata Brancaleone ci sono Luca Di Martino e Milcah R. Marcelo, marito e moglie molto innamorati e un po’ ubriaconi: da qui il nome del gruppo “lontre ubriache”.
La nostra missione: creare una prodotto seriale per il web divertente e originale che, pensato specificatamente per youtube, ne abbracci le specificità e potenzialità di linguaggio. Tutto in un grande tributo all'unicità immaginifica e narrativa di quelle pietre miliari della storia dei videogiochi che, dall'era 8bit ai primi titoli della Play Station, hanno segnato le infanzie di noi trenta-e-qualcosa-enni: da Super Mario Bros a Final Fantasy VII, da Ghouls 'n Ghosts a Metal Gear Solid, da Legend of Zelda a Tekken.
Tutto condito da una veste visiva squisitamente retrò, che attinge da fumetti, letteratura cinema senza disdegnare di ammiccare alle più raffinate pellicole d'autore come ai peggiori (nel senso di migliori) b-movies.
Qui a Drunken Otters siamo tutti artigiani, e abbiamo deciso di costruire un nostro mondo con set in miniatura, pupazzi in stop motion e modellini in pasta di sale.
Drunken Otters is a small independent production company based in Milan, founded around the project of the web series "Sorry the princess is in another castle".
At the helm of this band of adventurers are Luca Di Martino and Milcah R. Marcelo, a very lovey-dovey husband and wife who are also enthusiastic drinkers: hence the name "drunken otters".
Our mission: to create a funny and original product for the web designed specifically for youtube that takes full advantage of the potential and peculiarities of the medium. All while paying homage to the imaginative and narrative uniqueness of classic videogames that, ranging from 8bit to early Play Station games, have influenced the childhood of thirty-somethings such as us: from Super Mario Bros to Final Fantasy VII, from Ghouls' n Ghosts to Metal Gear Solid, from Legend of Zelda to Tekken.
All produced in exquisitely retro visuals which draw from comics, literature and cinema, with a friendly nod at the finest auteur films and the worst b-movies alike.
Here at Drunken Otters, we are all artisans, and we decided to handcraft our own world with miniature sets, stop-motion puppets and salt dough models.
